I love my job servicing pianos and can make your piano sound
and play better.
Carl has been
a piano technician in Los Angeles, passed his RPT professional exams in 1979 and has over 40 years tuning and technical experience.
I studied aural tuning with David Safir and learned repair, regulation and voicing skills in David's shop at Pianos Wholesale.
I tuned aurally only for a decade but have been integrating both aural and electronic tuning since taking an ear opening class
from Steve Fairchild, RPT. I studied psychology, math and computers eons ago, receiving my Bachelor's Degree from
U.C. Berkeley. I recently completed Yamaha Piano's week long Performance Piano Service Seminar. Since its
initial release I have been a member of the CyberTuner (CyberTuner.com) Development Team, creating, optimizing and expanding the software's capabilities. I am now CyberTuner's
Imagineer, responsible for dreaming up groundbreaking new features. I have tuned for countless concerts and recording
sessions and am currently the staff piano technician at the Village Recording Studio (villagestudios.com) in West Los Angeles. I have chaired and served on numerous Piano Technicians Guild (PTG.org) Committees and am a Past President of the California State Board of PTG. I am a recipient of the California State
PTG's highest honor in 2006, the "Sid Stone Award" and was honored in July, 2012 with the Piano Technicians
Guild's "Member of Note Award". I was officially credited (allmusic.com) as the piano technician for Elton John's last two albums, "Wonderful Crazy Night" and "The Diving Board".
I am a Member of the Grammy "Producers and Engineers Wing".
